Boston in a Day with Kids

We'll be heading to Maine this summer for our beach vacation and will be taking a couple of days to get there and back.  We're considering a day stopover in a metropolitan area, like NYC or Boston.  This is what we'll do if it's Boston.

Saturday morning games

Saturday morning, I sat on the floor of our reading room, cradling our two-month-old daughter with my right arm as she nursed, holding down the yellow Connect 4 launcher while Graham loaded and launched yellow rings from it and Gideon sat catty-corner from us launching red rings from his launcher.  There was no way of capturing that moment with a photo, but it's that kind of moment that I hope remains etched in my memory for a lifetime, that I'll always see those small children inside the adults they become.   And I hope that kind of memory is equally as sweet to them in their adulthood.

Prayer for In-Laws

Courtesy of Jennifer at unveiledwife.com:

"Dear God,
You have made the family unit so unique and there are so many different kinds of relationships we have, thank you for them all! Thank you especially for in-laws. Please help us to understand our in-laws and the relationship that they have with our spouse. Holy Spirit please guide our actions towards our in-laws and help us love them just as Jesus would. We pray for the in-laws who may not have a healthy relationship with their children and interrupt the marriage that you have brought together. Please divinely intervene and help in-laws to see that their child is no longer their responsibility and help their children see that their spouse is now their responsibility. We pray for wives who feel negative judgment or inadequacy because of treatment from in-laws and ask that you redeem their relationship. Give wives strength, sense of worthiness and the righteous way to respond. Thank you Lord! AMEN!"

A Mother's Prayer

O Lord, Who taught Monica to persevere for the good of her family, help me to be a better parent to my children. Help me to have patience with them when they misbehave and give me the strength to guide them gently to the right path. Permit me always to forgive their misdeeds and keep me from speaking harshly or punishing unwisely. Please help me to be a beacon of goodness for them as they grow to adulthood and to be a good example to them in all that I say and do. Amen. (from www.2heartsnetwork.org)
